FAQ

  • What is a farm sanctuary?

A farm sanctuary is much different than a zoo, petting zoo, or traditional hobby farm. At a farm sanctuary, every animal is an individual with their own different needs. We cater to each animal with their vet care, nutritional needs, grooming, and more! We also don't use these animals in any way and don't force interaction with them. They are with us to live out their lives on their own terms, away from oppression and exploitation.

  • What do you do with the eggs from your chickens?

Chickens have been bred to over produce eggs for many years, and that's caused havoc on their little bodies and reproductive systems. Because of all the nutrients they lose when they lay eggs, we feed their eggs back to them so they get some of those nutrients back! Our chickens love their eggs scrambled with fresh veggies added in!

  • Can I purchase your chickens eggs?

We will never sell or give our chickens eggs to humans. This goes against our whole belief system that animals are not meant to be used for what they can produce.

  • Do you shear your sheep? What do you do with the wool?

Our sheep do need to be shorn once yearly to prevent them from overheating and to keep them comfortable! When we shear them, we set the wool out for wild creatures to take and use for their nests. We also use the wool to fertilize our trees, and lay over muddy areas so the animals don't slip or get stuck in the mud. We will never give wool to humans or use it for ourselves.

  • Can I surrender my farm animal to you?

We do not take in owner surrenders at this time. We focus on the animals that have nowhere else to go and will die otherwise, much like those from transport trucks or rooster fighting rings as an example. Please do not threaten to kill your animal if we don't take them. An animal, no matter what species, is a lifelong responsibility, and they are not disposable. We hear that threat often, and we know that this happens. We want so badly to save every life, and need your help to do so. Please don't purchase animals you have no intention of keeping for the entirety of their life, and please don't breed animals when there are millions waiting to be rescued.

  • Can I have or purchase one of your animals?

Every animal we rescue will live out their entire lives at our sanctuary. We are their last stop. If there comes a time where it's in the animals best interest that they live somewhere else, we will work that out with another sanctuary, but to protect those in our care, we will never sell or give away an animal because someone wants them.
